Cat in the Hat
These are the hats I made for Alabama Shakespeare Festival's Cat in the Hat. The larger hat is for the Cat and is made using Fosshape covered in velvet. The two smaller hats are for the Kittens and were made using quarter inch EVA foam covered in velvet. All of the hats contain magnets in the inner hatband to keep them attached to the costume body suits.
The top of the Cat's hat is concave to better hold the items and also contains magnets to keep the items in place. The cake, teacup, and saucer were made by the Alabama Shakespeare Festival Props Department.

18th Century Hat
This is a late 18th century/early 19th century mens hat I blocked using wool and several hat blocks including a brim block. I made the rosette to have a little bit of decoration to make the hat pop
Scottish Hat
This is a traditional Scottish hat I made for the Nebraska Repertory's production of Unnecessary Farce. I made it using buckram and millinery wire for the base. I then covered it in black feather boas. The trickiest part of the hat was to keep it on the actor's head while they rolled around on the bed, so there is a skull cap of elastic to keep the hat snug to the skull.
Turban
This is a turban I made for the University of Illinois' production of 12th Night. It was made for the Feste character, which was played by a woman.

WW1 Military Hat
This is a hat I rebuilt using an existing military hat as a base for Alabama Shakespeare Festival's All is Calm. I used the hatband, visor, and hardware from the original dark blue hat. Meanwhile, I blocked a new crown using fosshape and covered it with a grey fabric for the new hat.
